Midi Skips (2-4 cubic yards)
Midi skips are the second smallest kind of skip you can hire. Slightly bigger than mini skips they are also mainly used for domestic skip hire and small building jobs. Unlike builders skips, most midi skips do not have walk-in access, so you need to be sure you can lift any heavy items into the skip. When hiring a midi skip for commercial use on a long term building project it is important to inform us so that we can arrange further skip permits (if needed) and choose a skip hire company that offer longer hire periods.
There are many specialist commercial skip hire companies – simply call us and we'll sort you out with best one near you. If you are confident that you have less than 35 bin bags of rubbish, a mini skip hire should be sufficient. However, remember that you save time and money by having a skip that's slightly too large rather than slightly too small.
How big are Midi Skips?
Midi skips measure 3' 2" (0.97m) high, 6' (1.83m) long and 4' 3"wide (1.29m). A midi skip holds the same amount as about 35-45 black bags.
Are there different regulations for using a midi skip?
As with all skip hire companies, there are items of waste that are considered hazardous and cannot be placed into a skip – in particular items such as Asbestos, Paint, Tyres, Gas Bottles, Fridges, Freezers, TV's, Fluorescent Tubes, Light Bulbs and Vehicle Batteries. If you are disposing of any of these items then please contact us for advice about hazardous waste disposal.
Do I need a council permit?
Midi skips will easily fit onto most domestic driveways or gardens, and providing you are not putting it onto a public road you will not need a permit. If you do not have space on your premises and need to put your midi skip on a public road, you will need a skip permit
